Okay, that was probably too much information to share, but I've been up for over 24 hours and I'm a little loopy. She's miserable, feverish and only wants to be walked, which means we've walked and bounced all. night. long. She attempts to nurse but since she can't breathe through her nose, she prefers to bite me instead. Daddy, of course, left on a trip yesterday so it's me trying to soothe baby girl and console her five siblings (themselves bleary-eyed from her all-night crying) who sit and stare at us, sure baby sister's not going to "make it" after each croupy bark. They still need breakfast, ironed clothes, fixed hair, two spelling reviews, a referee, and help practicing a Bible verse.This is one of those mommy moments where I question my qualifications for the job. Clearly God must have thought me capable; I, however, am not so sure.
Edited to add: My oldest daughter, in an effort to remind me of my many blessings, pointed out that things could certainly be worse. How right she is. But dang-it, sometimes a girl just needs to whine.

Poor thing! I hope you both feel better soon - her snotty croup and your exhaustion and boobs. (Is it okay if I pray for your boobs to be relieved, or does that overstep boundaries?) :)
Oh, and I totally forgot to mention the wonders of Vicks Vaporub. I have yet to have the need to try this, but I'm told that if you rub Vicks Vaporub on the bottoms of the baby's feet then put socks on her, it should help relieve the cough so you guys can get some sleep.
The Vicks trick I HAVE tried - use vicks on a shot site after getting shots and it alleviates the pain and soreness. It worked for Tree Faerie and for me. Truely a blessing when Tree Faerie had to get her shots.
So sorry that you have to go through that (alone no less)! Hang in there! I have heard about the Vicks thing too although never tried it on my kids I tried it on me once and it seemed to work. You gotta admit though, even in your tired, bleary-eyed condition, that Safari Man is hilarious!!!

Doctor gave her steroids and a prescription cough medicine that makes her drousy...YAY!

No fun for you or baby! Hopefully the worst of it is over and you'll be getting some sleep. Or better yet, maybe Dad will come home and take over for a while.
