Sign of progress?

I was driving the kids home from school yesterday when a glimmer of hope shone from the back seat...

Landon (4): "Mommy, open my window please." (He did, at least, say please.)

Me: "Not now, Landon, it's raining and we're almost home."

Landon (mind-numbing whining and the beginning of a fit brewing): "Mooooooooooom, I want the window OPEN!"

Me (With my best stern mommy voice as I braced myself for battle): "I said 'no' already, I am NOT opening your window."

Landon (he paused, sat up straighter in his booster seat, and began reciting loudly and proudly.): "Obedience-quickly doing what I am told with a happy spirit."

It took everything I had to keep the car the road.

Boy, I sure love that school.

OH! That is soooo much better than the one I made my kids learn: I will obey all the way, right away. It's still good, but Landon's is better!
