Funky (smelling) fun

With nothing planned for the 4th and with Jimmy and Hayden headed to Detroit for Tae Kwon Do nationals and Sutton headed to Virginia for college orientation, I decided to load up Reagan, Keaton, Landon, and Peyton and head to my parents' home for the weekend.

Granted, the five of us weren't flying off to do exciting things in some other state like the three jet-setters in our family, but those of us left behind had SO. MUCH. FUN.

Now I know it's not everyone's idea of a good time but we spent yesterday morning shopping with Naunie and Poppy at garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores. It was hot and we were stinky but oh, the treasures we found.

And to top off an already couldn't-ask-for-more day, we went to the CARNIVAL.

Yes, the dirty, smelly, OH MY GOSH WHAT COULD BE MORE FUN carnival. Along with my sister Krista and her son Cade, we talked with carnies with few teeth but tons of charm, and the kids rode rides that probably haven't been hosed off in years; yet the joy experienced by us all was completely immeasurable.

I drove my tired four home today with a baby who screamed much of the three hour drive, and a four year old who complained about everything, but it's all good. You can't have that kind of fun every weekend so you just have to relish the dirty, smelly, treasure-filled memories.

Landon and Cade chuggin' on the choo choo train.

Peyton tried and tried to get Naunie to let her ride...anything.

Keaton, not too sure about the ferris wheel.

Auntie Krista provided the best view.

The boys made sure they "drove" together.

But the old classic is always a hit.
