Hayden was listening intently to a conversation we were having about thick, southern accents. Hayden's own accent is not only thick and southern, but he has also mastered the art of the long drawn-out Texas "twang" I've so wanted my children to steer clear of.
Finally, needing a little more clarification, yet too proud to admit he was unsure what the word "accent" actually meant, he said staunchly, "Well, I don't have an accent."
Me: "Oh, yes you do! Not only do you have an accent, but you, Landon and Daddy all have very thick accents."
Hayden (incensed and, it seems, a little confused): "Nuh uh!! Not in our pants we don't!"
Accents, son, not accidents.
